Professor Lai Hairong pointed out that Fujian Technical Normal University is the only university in Fujian that is positioned to train vocational education teachers. It has a total of 13 secondary colleges, 39 undergraduate majors, 3 disciplines entering the joint master's training program, and 11,600 full-time students. There are many people, including more than 700 faculty and staff. Together with 9 cities in the province, we have built 7 secondary vocational schools, 10 base schools, 1 middle school and 1 primary school. The school regards Indonesia as the most important country for foreign exchanges and makes every effort to promote exchanges and cooperation with Indonesia. This is based on Fuqing’s advantages as a hometown of overseas Chinese and the national strategic needs of dual parks in China and Indonesia. We have made some achievements:
1. Talent cultivation. Fujian Technical Normal University has opened the first Indonesian undergraduate major in Fujian Province and has enrolled its first class of students; focusing on recruiting Indonesian students, it has started the school's education process for international students. Indonesian international students implement a "Chinese + vocational" training system, mutually nourish and improve with Chinese students majoring in Indonesian on campus, and strive to cultivate builders and promoters of Sino-Indonesian culture, business exchanges and development. In addition, we will also make every effort to promote the construction of the Yuanhong New Campus located in the core area of the Chinese side of the "Twin Parks" between China and Indonesia. This is a key task of our school during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.
2. Scientific research. The Fujian-Indonesia Marine Food Joint R&D Center jointly built by Fujian Technical Normal University and Indonesian universities has been selected as Fujian Province’s “Belt and Road” foreign cooperation science and technology innovation platform. It is the only provincial-level scientific research cooperation platform in Fujian Province that is jointly built by Chinese and Indonesian universities. This is a concrete and pragmatic measure to implement the consensus reached at the meeting between General Secretary Xi Jinping and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
The school has established the Yuanhong Food Modern Industry College in cooperation with Fuzhou New District Fuqing Functional Zone, Shengtian Food, Yuguan Food and other companies to cultivate high-quality marine food application-oriented and technical skills talents for the mutual establishment of industrial parks between China and Indonesia. Selected into the first batch of Fujian Provincial Modern Industrial Colleges. It has also signed agreements with Indonesian Bogor Agricultural University, Jakarta National University, Semarang University and other universities to promote industry-university-research work.
3. Social services. Fujian Normal University has established the strongest team of Indonesian foreign experts in the province, including food experts, think tank scholars and foreign language teachers. It has carried out Indonesian social services for two consecutive years, offering Indonesian language courses for college teachers and Jiangyin Port personnel, and also launched online courses related to Chinese culture and tradition for the International School in Jakarta, Indonesia, and received high praise. Focusing on vocational education, we have jointly planned to open the first "Luban Workshop" (vocational skills training center) in Indonesia with New World Group and Indonesia's IPMI International Business School, which will directly provide technical backbones to the two countries' twin Indonesian parks.
4. Cultural exchange. Fujian Technical Normal University coordinates the scientific research strength of the whole school and established the "China-Indonesia Industrial Cooperation Research Center", "Overseas Chinese and Integration of Chinese and Foreign Culture Research Center" and "China-Indonesia Legal Research Center", and held a number of academic seminars.
