(Jakarta) Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, including Chairman Zhang Jinxiong, Secretary-General Zhou Weiliang, Supervisory Committee Member Liang Yuanan, Vice Chairmen Chen Zhiming, Lian Jiehao, and Chen Xin, and Vice Chairman Yang Qingshun, welcomed a delegation from the Huangpu District Committee and Chairman of the Guangzhou Huangpu Overseas Friendship Association, Xiao Chunhui, Chairman of the Huangpu District Overseas Chinese Federation, Lin Yinghui, and Deputy Director of the Huangpu District Foreign Affairs Office, at the clubhouse at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The delegation held lively discussions and strengthened cooperation.

Zhang Jinxiong, Chairman of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, stated that Indonesia, as ASEAN's largest economy and the world's fourth most populous country, boasts a population of 280 million, with a labor force aged 15-64 accounting for over 67%. Indonesia boasts a vast consumer market and a demographic dividend. In the second quarter of this year, Indonesia's GDP grew by 5.12% year-on-year, the highest growth rate since the second quarter of 2023, exceeding market expectations. This growth was driven by strong private consumption, fixed asset investment, and import and export trade. Manufacturing, with a year-on-year growth of 5.68%, was the core driving force.

Zhang Jinxiong stated that Indonesia is blessed with unique natural resources. It is the world's largest exporter of palm oil and coal, boasts the world's largest nickel reserves, has enormous geothermal energy potential, and boasts a thriving new energy industry. In recent years, the Indonesian government has continuously improved its business environment and introduced a series of preferential policies to attract foreign investment. The 2020 Comprehensive Employment Law further streamlined the registration process and opened up more investment areas to foreign investment. In terms of taxation, several special economic zones have been established, offering tax exemptions and reductions to encourage greater foreign investment in key industries such as infrastructure, manufacturing, and green energy.

Indonesia has always valued friendly cooperation with China. China has remained Indonesia's largest trading partner for many years and is also one of Indonesia's most important sources of foreign investment. Last year, the total trade volume between the two countries reached US$147.8 billion. Mainland China and Hong Kong invested US$16.3 billion in Indonesia, second only to Singapore's US$20.1 billion. This investment is primarily concentrated in new energy batteries, the digital economy, infrastructure, and other areas, demonstrating the deep integration of the two countries' industrial chains.

Zhang Jinxiong pointed out that Guangzhou, as one of China's most important economic and overseas Chinese cities, boasts a large overseas Chinese community and strong ties with the global Chinese community. Indonesia, as the country with the largest overseas Chinese population, shares natural kinship and cultural resonance with Guangzhou. Huangpu District, Guangzhou's industrial hub, has achieved remarkable success in science and technology innovation, biomedicine, high-end manufacturing, and other fields. We welcome the Guangzhou Municipal Government and entrepreneurs to visit Indonesia frequently, bring advanced technologies and development experiences, and jointly promote the prosperity and development of both regions.

Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will continue to fully leverage its platform advantages to provide maximum support and assistance for exchanges and cooperation. Finally, I wish President Xiao and the delegation a successful and fruitful trip to Indonesia.

President Xiao Chunhui stated that Huangpu District is a major innovation hub for the Macao-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, aiming to make Guangzhou a national core city and comprehensive gateway for China. It will be developed into a center for science, technology, education, and culture, and a global metropolis.

Huangpu boasts rich cultural resources and abundant cultural relics. It boasts the Nanhai Temple, the birthplace of the ancient "Maritime Silk Road," the former site of the Huangpu Military Academy, the source of modern China's democratic revolution and known as the "cradle of Chinese generals," the former headquarters of the Dongjiang Column's Zengcongfan Independent Battalion, and the Lingnan architectural gems of Yuyan Academy, Hengsha Book Street, Shenjing Ancient Houses, and Liantang Ancient Village. Entrepreneurs from Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association are invited to take time to visit Huangpu District for a stroll and sightseeing tour.
