(Jakarta) On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 2:30 PM, a delegation led by Yan Jie, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and including entrepreneurs such as Sun Hongkui, Director of the Dezhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, welcomed the delegation at the Chamber's premises. The delegation included Zhang Jinxiong, Chairman of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association; Zhou Weiliang, Secretary-General; Chen Xin and Jiang Miaocheng, Vice Chairmen; Wang Zhenkun, Member of the Supervisory Committee; Lin Songshi, Vice Chairman; Wu Yiwan and Huang Zhiyong, Honorary Chairmen; and Yang Xinsheng and Xu Qunhao, Deputy Secretaries-General.
Chairman Zhang Jinxiong stated that Indonesia, as the largest economy in Southeast Asia, has a total population of approximately 280 million and is the fourth most populous country in the world, possessing a vast consumer market and enormous development potential. Last year, Indonesia's GDP totaled approximately US$1.4 trillion, and in the second quarter of this year, Indonesia's GDP grew by 5.12% year-on-year, demonstrating strong growth momentum. Furthermore, Indonesia boasts exceptional resource endowments, possessing the world's largest nickel ore reserves and being a leading global exporter of resources such as coal, palm oil, and natural rubber. As the world's largest archipelagic nation and a central member of ASEAN, Indonesia enjoys a strategic geographical location connecting Asia and Oceania, controlling vital international shipping routes such as the Strait of Malacca. This significant locational advantage provides international companies with ample opportunities to expand into the Asia-Pacific market.
Zhang Jinxiong stated that in recent years, the Indonesian government has introduced a series of preferential policies to optimize the business environment and attract domestic and foreign investment. The Omnibus Employment Act, implemented in 2020, further simplified registration procedures, eased foreign investment access, established several special economic zones, and provided tax breaks for specific industries, encouraging foreign investment in Indonesia's economic development.
Indonesia has consistently valued its economic and trade cooperation with China. China has remained Indonesia's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years. In the first half of this year, bilateral trade between the two countries reached US$70.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15.5%. During the same period, direct investment from China, including Hong Kong, in Indonesia reached US$8.2 billion, second only to Singapore, making it Indonesia's second-largest source of foreign investment.
Zhang Jinxiong pointed out that Shandong is a major industrial province and a strong economic province in China, with a solid manufacturing base and outstanding innovation capabilities, which highly aligns with Indonesia's development needs. We believe that this delegation's visit will build a good platform for exchange and cooperation between Shandong and Indonesian enterprises, achieving mutual benefit and win-win results.
Zhang Jinxiong further stated that Indonesia possesses a vast market, abundant resources, as well as proactive and open investment policies and a stable and favorable business environment. We sincerely welcome the Shandong Provincial Government and entrepreneurs to visit Indonesia for sightseeing, inspection, and investment. Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will, as always, provide necessary support and assistance for exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, jointly promoting economic development and social progress in both regions. Finally, I sincerely wish Director Yan and all guests a successful and fruitful trip to Indonesia.
Yan Jie, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, first of all expressed his gratitude to the entrepreneurs of Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association for their warm reception. He noted that the Shandong entrepreneurs he led this time covered multiple fields, including instrument and meter manufacturing, new materials, light industry and food, construction machinery, international trade, high-end equipment manufacturing, and power and overseas services. He believed that these industries had a high degree of compatibility with Indonesia and hoped that this visit would further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Indonesian enterprises. He also briefly introduced the latest developments in Shandong Province in the fields of industry, agriculture, and manufacturing, and sincerely invited everyone to take some time to visit Shandong for sightseeing and inspection.
