(Jakarta) On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 3:00 PM, Luo Zheng, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and Xiao Liang and Wang Juan, Deputy Directors of the Guangzhou Business and Exhibition Promotion Service Center, visited Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association and were welcomed by Chairman Zhang Jinxiong, Vice Chairmen Xue Jingyong and Lin Songshi, among others. Representatives from both sides engaged in friendly exchanges, enhancing friendship and strengthening cooperation.
Chairman Zhang Jinxiong stated that since its re-establishment in 2001, Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association and Industry has always adhered to its founding principle of "uniting Chinese businesses and promoting Indonesia's economic development." Currently, its members cover multiple industries including manufacturing, mining, construction, retail, logistics, and finance. For a long time, the Association has actively assisted various provincial and municipal governments and business associations in China in holding trade and economic negotiation meetings and other activities in Indonesia, promoting pragmatic cooperation between enterprises of both countries and establishing deep friendships with various provinces and cities in China, including Guangzhou.
Indonesia, as the largest economy in ASEAN and the world's fourth most populous country with 280 million people, boasts a labor force of nearly 70%, possessing a vast consumer market and demographic dividend. In the second quarter of this year, driven by consumption and investment, Indonesia's GDP grew by 5.12% year-on-year, exceeding market expectations and demonstrating strong economic resilience.
Zhang Jinxiong stated that Indonesia is also rich in natural resources, being the world's largest exporter of palm oil and coal, and possessing the world's largest nickel ore reserves. Furthermore, as the world's largest archipelagic nation, Indonesia enjoys a superior geographical location, serving as a crucial transportation hub connecting the Pacific and Indian Oceans. In recent years, the Indonesian government has continuously optimized its business environment, introducing a series of preferential policies, including the Omnibus Employment Law of 2020, which further simplified registration procedures and opened up more investment areas to foreign investment. Regarding taxation, several special economic zones have been established, offering tax breaks, infrastructure facilitation, and other preferential measures to actively attract foreign investment.
Indonesia has always valued friendly cooperation with China, and in recent years, bilateral relations, especially economic and trade cooperation, have reached a new historical high. China has been Indonesia's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years and has ranked among the top three sources of foreign investment in Indonesia for 9 consecutive years. In 2024, the total trade volume between the two countries reached US$147.8 billion, and direct investment from China (including Hong Kong) in Indonesia reached US$16.3 billion.
Guangzhou, as a major economic center in China, hosts the internationally renowned Canton Fair, a crucial window for Chinese manufacturing, technology, and brands to reach the world, providing boundless business opportunities for merchants from around the world, including Indonesia. Indonesia and Guangzhou have always maintained very close economic and trade ties, with a solid foundation for cooperation.
Zhang Jinxiong pointed out that Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association and the Guangzhou Municipal Government, business associations, and other relevant organizations have maintained excellent communication and contact. In the future, the Chamber will continue to play its role as a bridge and link, providing necessary support and assistance for everyone's exchanges and cooperation. Finally, he wished Director Luo and all the Indonesians a successful and fruitful trip!
Luo Zheng, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, pointed out that the purpose of this visit to Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association was to introduce Guangzhou and the Canton Fair, understand the business environment in Indonesia, and provide reference for Guangzhou enterprises to "go global" to hold exhibitions and introduce international exhibition resources. Through this exchange, he sincerely invited Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association to send a delegation to participate in the 138th Canton Fair, which will be held from October 15 to November 4, 2025 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex. Compared with previous sessions, this exhibition has the main characteristics of larger scale of participation, higher quality of exhibitors, better theme structure, and richer supporting activities.
