General Chairman Zhang Jinxiong said that Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world with a total population of over 280 million, more than half of whom are young people under the age of 30, and has a superior demographic dividend. As the largest economy in ASEAN, Indonesia's economic growth rate has remained above 5% for many years. Last year, Indonesia's GDP totaled about 1.4 trillion US dollars, and its per capita GDP was 4,960 US dollars. In the first quarter of this year, affected by global trade, Indonesia's economic growth rate was 4.87%, lower than in previous years, but its economic resilience is still significant. Household consumption still contributes the most to Indonesia's GDP, accounting for about 54%, far exceeding investment and exports.
Zhang Jinxiong said that Indonesia is not only the largest economy in Southeast Asia, but also one of the countries with the richest resource reserves in the world: it has the largest nickel ore reserves in the world, is the world's largest exporter of palm oil and coal, and the second largest tin producer. The rich and complete mineral advantages provide a good energy foundation for Indonesia to develop its manufacturing and new energy industries.
In today's context of increasing global economic uncertainty, geopolitical conflicts, and intensified trade protectionism, Indonesia's locational advantages are more prominent. Mineral resources such as nickel ore have promoted the rapid development of our new energy industry chain. The huge population base provides abundant labor and a broad consumer market. In addition, the Indonesian government has always attached great importance to attracting foreign investment. In recent years, the "Comprehensive Employment Law" and "New Investment List" and other policies have greatly simplified the registration process of enterprises, relaxed restrictions on foreign investment access, and provided a series of incentives such as tax relief.
Zhang Jinxiong pointed out that Indonesia has always attached great importance to friendly cooperation with China. China is Indonesia's largest trading partner and one of the most important sources of foreign investment. Last year, the total bilateral trade between the two countries reached 147.8 billion US dollars, mainland China invested 8.1 billion US dollars in Indonesia, and Hong Kong invested 8.2 billion US dollars, covering new energy, digital economy, infrastructure and other fields.
As a well-known "world factory" in China and even the world, Dongguan has strong supporting capabilities and industrial chain advantages, which are highly complementary to Indonesia's development needs and resource endowments!
