Zhang Jinxiong said that Indonesia is a world-renowned archipelago country with more than 17,000 islands of various sizes. The equator runs through the entire territory. It has unique natural resources. The nickel ore reserves are the world's largest, and the reserves of gold, silver, copper, aluminum, tin and other minerals are also among the best in the world. At the same time, Indonesia is also the world's largest exporter of coal and palm oil. It is also rich in natural resources such as marine fisheries, tropical fruits, coffee, and cocoa, and has broad prospects for cooperation.
As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, the only G20 country in ASEAN, and the first BRICS member country, Indonesia has maintained a GDP growth rate of about 5% all year round, and its position in the regional and even global economic landscape is becoming increasingly important. In 2024, Indonesia's total GDP will be approximately US$1.4 trillion, and its per capita GDP will be approximately US$4,960. In recent years, Indonesia's digital economy has flourished, its manufacturing industry has continued to upgrade, and its infrastructure has been continuously improved, showing huge market potential and unlimited business opportunities. In the first quarter of this year, affected by global trade, Indonesia's GDP growth rate reached 4.87%, still showing good economic resilience.
Zhang Jinxiong further pointed out that as the world's fourth most populous country, Indonesia currently has a total population of about 280 million, of which more than half are young people under the age of 30, with superior demographic dividends. At the same time, Indonesia is also the country with the largest overseas Chinese population in the world. There are more than 50 million overseas Chinese and 20 million ethnic Chinese in Indonesia. The Indonesian ethnic Chinese is an important force in promoting Indonesia's economic development and a natural bond between India and China for friendly cooperation.
The friendly cooperation between India and China has a long history. In recent years, the economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries have become increasingly close. In 2024, the bilateral trade volume between the two countries reached 147.8 billion US dollars. China has been Indonesia's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years. Last year, mainland China invested 8.1 billion US dollars in Indonesia, and Hong Kong invested 8.2 billion US dollars. China has been among the top three sources of foreign investment in Indonesia for 9 consecutive years. These investments not only drive Indonesia's economic development and employment, but also provide Chinese companies with a broad overseas market and important opportunities.
Zhang Jinxiong said that Hubei, as an important engine for the rise of central China, has significant advantages in location, transportation, industrial foundation, science and education. We sincerely welcome the Hubei Provincial Government and entrepreneurs to come to Indonesia often to visit, explore the market, jointly participate in the current economic construction of Indonesia, and share the dividends of Indonesia's economic development. Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will continue to give full play to the role of the Chamber of Commerce as a platform and bridge to provide necessary consultation and assistance for Hubei enterprises to develop in Indonesia.
