Vice Chairman Chen Xin said that as the largest economy in Southeast Asia, and the only G20 member and the first BRICS country in ASEAN, Indonesia's economic growth rate has remained at around 5% in recent years. Last year, Indonesia's GDP was approximately US$1.4 trillion, and its per capita GDP was approximately US$4,960, with a growth rate of 5.03%, ranking among the top in ASEAN. In the first quarter of this year, affected by global trade, Indonesia's economic growth rate was 4.87%, of which household consumption contributed more than 50% to GDP, still showing strong development resilience.
Chen Xin said that in the process of Indonesia's economic development, the Chinese in Indonesia play an indispensable and important role. Indonesia is the country with the largest overseas Chinese population in the world. There are 50 million overseas Chinese, and 20 million of them are in Indonesia. The Chinese in Indonesia are not only an important force in promoting Indonesia's economic development, but also a natural bond connecting the friendly cooperation between India and China.
Indonesia's huge consumer market, rich natural resources, and active and open investment policies are all plus points for "going overseas to Indonesia". In recent years, more and more Chinese companies have chosen Indonesia as their "first stop overseas".
Chen Xin pointed out that Angel Group, as a benchmark enterprise in China's water purification industry, has established a service network covering 40 cities and more than 300 employees in a short period of time since it established a branch in Indonesia in 2024, bringing high-quality water purification solutions to Indonesian consumers.
