As a leading enterprise in China's automobile industry, GAC Group has joined hands with Indomobil, the leading automobile dealer group in Indonesia, to jointly develop the Southeast Asian market, which fully demonstrates its confidence and foresight in the prospects of Indonesia's economic development! Here, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and respect to everyone present.
As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia has always attracted the attention of global capital with its steady growth. Indonesia's GDP growth rate has remained above 5% for many years, ranking at the forefront of emerging markets in the world. Today, Indonesia is moving towards the "2045 Golden Vision" and promoting the country's transformation from a resource-exporting economy to a high-value-added manufacturing industry by adhering to the "downstream industrialization strategy". As the world's fourth most populous country, Indonesia has a total population of 280 million, more than half of whom are young people under the age of 30, of which the middle class has exceeded 50 million, and the labor force aged 15 to 65 accounts for about 70%. It is one of the most dynamic markets in Southeast Asia, and its consumption potential is immeasurable.
Zhang Jinxiong said that as the largest automobile market in Southeast Asia, Indonesia has a pivotal position in the ASEAN region. In 2023, Indonesia's automobile sales will exceed 1 million units, and in 2024, the automobile sales will be about 900,000 units. It will still be the largest automobile consumer in Southeast Asia and the second largest automobile producer in Southeast Asia. The government actively promotes industrial upgrading and accelerates the transformation to electrification and intelligence through policies such as tax incentives and new energy subsidies. Indonesia is not only a regional automobile manufacturing center, but also an important link in the global new energy automobile industry chain.
As a benchmark enterprise in China's automobile industry, GAC Group has accumulated profound advantages in technical fields such as electrification and intelligence. This strong alliance with Indomobil is not only an important step in GAC's globalization strategy, but also an important opportunity for the accelerated development of Indonesia's automobile industry.
Zhang Jinxiong pointed out that it is well known that Indonesia has rich nickel ore resources, accounting for about 22% of the world's reserves, and the government is making every effort to create an integrated "battery-vehicle" ecosystem. We expect GAC Group to drive the upgrading of upstream and downstream industrial chains such as batteries and supporting parts through localized production. In addition, Indonesian consumers still have a strong demand for cost-effective, energy-saving and environmentally friendly models. We believe that brands such as GAC Aion can accurately meet the Indonesian market's preference for electrification and SUV models. At the same time, we sincerely hope that GAC can take root in Indonesia and work with Indomobil to create more employment opportunities and achieve full local production and operation.
Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will continue to give full play to the role of the Chamber of Commerce as a bridge and link, provide necessary support and assistance for the cooperation between the two companies, and contribute positive forces to the friendly relations between India and China. Yu Jun, deputy general manager of GAC Group, briefly introduced GAC Group. Yu Jun said that the main purpose of his visit to Indonesia was to attend the Indonesia International Motor Show held in Jakarta and introduce the AION electric car to the Indonesian people, providing more electric car options for the Indonesian people. He also hoped that through this visit, he could further open up the market in Indonesia.
